New sports talk radio show!

It is the type of radio show that I have had my eyes on for a few years now and it is officially time to take flight.
I am mixing two pretty cool things together – sport and talking – to create what I hope becomes a popular UCT hub.
There are thirty thousand persons at the university, many of whom participate in some code of sport, but there is no platform for these students to chat about their latest match from the weekend!? Sure, Varsity Newspaper has a sports section but how many people want to read about the u/23 C team’s loss from 2 weeks ago? Radio is alive, contemporary and flexible where we talk about current sporting affairs. Anything can go wrong at any point – and this is where the thrill kicks in, and that is why people tune in!
This brand new radio show airs on UCT Radio 104.5fm on Tuesdays between 12-2PM where for 2 hours we talk only sporting matters (with a tad of music in between).
I am joined with Liberty Radio Award Winning Newsreader Rebecca Cullum and producer Merosha Govender. The three of us work together to come up with what we believe to be the most relevant sports content for the week.
The idea behind the show is that anyone can easily hear and read up on the latest game-changing goal by Mo Salah, or watch the highlight package of another Proteas’ collapse, but where can you hear from the sportsmen and women of tomorrow at university level? In short…nowhere. Furthermore, where can you hear a conversation about transformational sport such as wheelchair rugby, blind soccer and much more? Again, in short…nowhere. That is why we have a dedicated weekly 15 minute slot for our beloved Muya Koloko to speak freely about transformational sport in the Western Cape.
Therefore, this sports talk radio show simply has one goal — to turn the spotlight onto sportsmen and women at UCT and to hear their stories.
