Entering sports journalism

It was such a privilege to be gifted the opportunity to team up with Varsity Cup and provide the latest happenings of UCT’s rugby team, the Ikey Tigers.
What this new job of mine entails is creating stories of what’s hot and happening in the Ikey Tigers camp for the duration of the 2019 Varsity Cup season. Rugby enthusiasts feed on the inside scoop and it’s my responsibility to deliver that first.
Fully aware of the stigma attached to the word “journalist”, I plan to deliver sports articles that are analytical, critical, not necessarily neutral, but at all times, fair.
UCT is the number 1 university in Africa and I have no doubt the Ikey Tigers plan to become the number 1 rugby team in Varsity Cup, with many of the players eyeing out a career on the rugby field, post uni-life. Therefore, I wish to expose these passionate players, through my articles, to YOU, the public.
That being said, I would like to thank the team at Varsity Cup for the opportunity once again, and furthermore, the willingness of both the Ikey Tiger’s captain and head coach to speak with me as we spear into the opening match this Monday 4th Feb between UCT and UWC in a massive Cape Derby!
